With nearly 15 years of experience in understanding the needs of small businesses in my “day job” as a writer for an accounting software company, I have learned that most small business owners simply don’t have sufficient time to reach out to new customers. Although many people recognize the value of having a site on the World Wide Web, they often are simply unable to invest the time to develop their own site. I now design, develop and host web sites for small businesses and nonprofit organizations on a limited part-time basis. My client list includes such groups as a foundation for Russian orphans, a potter, a nonprofit jazz society and a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Nepal. Please see my site for a view of my portfolio! My goal at this time is not to make a lot of money with this work; I just enjoy the design and technology challenges. As a result, the fees for my work are very low, often only a bit above the cost of hosting a site. I’m also willing to barter my services.
