Days 8-10: Cuzco

After getting a good workout in the mountains of the Sacred Valley, it was time to take it easy in Cuzco. And take it easy we did: we stayed at the ultra-posh Hotel Monasterio in the center of the city. As its name implies, the hotel was once a monastery for Spanish monks. The 16th-century architecture and ambience was quite a treat; it was a little difficult to pull ourselves away to visit the city outside! (Even when we finally did, we didn't wander too much. It was a Sunday, so most attractions were closed. Fortunately, the Incan streets of this city at 11,000 feet are attraction enough.)
